Jiangjing Technology's "JJF2140-2024 Test Method for Pressure Gauge Calibrators" was released in September 2024 and will be implemented in March 2025. Therefore, many metrology institutions are expected to expand their calibration capabilities for this project. Currently, a limited number of institutions are conducting tests for this project, primarily issuing test reports for pressure calibrators (pressure generating pumps) based on "JB/T599-2005 Pressure Gauge Calibrators" and "GB/T 14211-2019 Mechanical Seal Test Methods." After the implementation of "JJF2140-2024 Test Method for Pressure Gauge Calibrators," relevant metrology institutions will uniformly adopt this standard. Regarding the new test standard, Jiangjing Technology provides the following interpretation.
Main test items: pressure strength test and sealing test.
I. Pressure Strength Test:
For calibration pressure ranges < 6 MPa, the test pressure is 150% of the upper limit of the calibration pressure; for 6 ≤ calibration pressure range < 400 MPa, the test pressure is 120% of the upper limit of the calibration pressure; for calibration pressure ranges > 400 MPa, the test pressure is 110% of the upper limit of the calibration pressure. After reaching the test pressure, close the generator and pressure compensation function, and withstand a 10-minute pressure strength test. After 5 minutes of pressure holding, record the pressure value at the 6th minute and the 10th minute. The difference between these two pressure values represents the pressure strength of the pressure calibrator.
II. Sealing Test:
Pressurize the pressure gauge calibrator to the upper limit value (or evacuate to 80%–90% for vacuum pressure) and hold for 2 minutes. Starting from the 3rd minute, observe and record the pressure values of the pressure testing instrument at the beginning and end of the 3rd minute. The difference between these two pressure values represents the sealing performance of the pressure gauge calibrator.
